Academic Vice President highlights accessibility, scalability, and socio-environmental impact
During a thematic panel at the 30th International Congress on Distance Education (CIAED), Sara Pedrini, Academic Vice President of Vitru Educação, presented innovative strategies to build a distance learning model that combines inclusion, scalability, and sustainability. The approach was shared within the axis "Designing an inclusive, scalable, and sustainable distance education: the vision of major groups."
The executive questioned whether "we are delivering the appropriate form of education? Are we truly fostering social and economic transformation?" and reflected on the urgency to rethink the quality of distance learning and its real impact on society.
She also emphasized that Vitru holding supports the New Regulatory Framework for Distance Learning, as the guidelines will be crucial tools to steer the sector’s next steps. To achieve this, sustainability is essential:
"This involves implementing artificial intelligence (AI) as an opportunity for teachers, as well as scalable and customizable student assessment tools to improve outcomes."
Internationalization in Education
Additionally, Sara stressed that Internationalization in Education is not limited to mobility or physical displacement but refers to "education grounded in the diversity students will encounter in the job market":
"At Vitru, we are committed to bridging science and the job market, as our students need to be visible to employers, both locally and nationally. Our role, as an educational institution, is to prepare students’ technical competencies while helping them develop socio-emotional skills."
